The Lehigh County Conservation District will begin its annual Mosquito and Tick Collection Analysis Program on Monday, April 6. This important public health initiative includes countywide monitoring of mosquito and tick populations to help detect and analyze potential disease‑carrying insects and protect resident health.

The program works in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to collect mosquitoes and ticks, test for diseases such as West Nile virus, Lyme disease, and other vector‑borne illnesses, and provide data that supports prevention efforts.

Residents are encouraged to take personal precautions — such as eliminating standing water and using EPA‑registered repellents — to reduce the risk of bites.
